Christmas: Kaylee and Lucy

The Jagodik’s, 2007

It has been a very, very busy year in the Jagodik house. At the beginning of the year, we decided to do a “minor” remodel in our house, which turned into a “major” overhaul. Just as we were finishing cleaning up the dust, Christy gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Kaylee Jean Jagodik. Kaylee blessed our lives on May 19, and continues to amaze us every day.

Kaylee’s first big trip outside of Texas was to Tulsa to meet her great grandparents. We had a great weekend “oooo-ing and ahhhh-ing” about Kaylee.

In late July, we went to California, where Paul worked during the week, and Christy and Kaylee explored the coast. At the age of 2 months (and at the age of 30-something), Kaylee and Christy marveled at their first drive down Highway 1, through strawberry fields, beautiful cliffs, and Big Sur. Paul joined them on Friday to explore downtown San Francisco and the bay, and then over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sonoma and Napa Valleys to visit several wineries. While there, we got to see Wendell and Sherry and their precious Amalie. On the way back to San Francisco, Kaylee went on her first nice hike through Muir Woods and the beautiful redwoods.

Paul’s mom came to Austin to meet Kaylee and visit for a week in early August. She was so excited to spend time with her granddaughter! We had a great time.

In late August, we joined Christy’s parents in Utah for another week of fun. We stayed in Park City and went fly fishing and caught a bunch of fish, sat in the hot tub, and relaxed. We also spent a day in Salt Lake City and toured both a huge copper mine as well as Temple Square. We were able to watch the famous Tabernacle Choir rehearse – what a treat!

In October, Christy returned to work, and Kaylee started “school” at Primrose, near our home. The transition has gone well.

For Thanksgiving, we drove to Santa Fe for Christy’s family reunion. Kaylee had a lot of new people to meet! On the way home, we got stuck in a snow storm in Pecos, Texas. (We don’t recommend getting stuck in Pecos.)

For the holidays, we plan to stay in Austin to celebrate Kaylee’s first Christmas! Kaylee is almost 7 months old now, is sitting up, sleeping well, and eating solid foods. She babbles a lot, and is starting to show a real affinity for her puppy dog, Lucy. Kaylee is a very calm baby girl with a lot of smiles on her face!

We wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
